FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Enrollment & Eligibility

No. You can complete the application and pay your registration fee. There will be a place in the application that asks if you have any previous schooling. You will enter that info, and we will give you 30 days to have the transcripts sent to us. Your placement will be contingent on you providing those documents, but you will be able to start classes.

Yes. If you have a secular degree and can also provide evidence of ministry classes or ministry work, you can advance accordingly. If you do not have any ministry classes or experience, you will be placed laterally. A secular BA degree by itself would place you in our BA level programs.

We offer the opportunity to apply for Life Experience Credit. You will complete the application for review and, if eligible, have the opportunity to receive 1 year of advancement towards your degree. Please view the “Life Experience Credits” page for full details.

You must be 18 years old or have a completed high school diploma or GED.

Attendance & Schedules

1 class per month. Our program was created for working adults that cannot attend multiple classes in a week. You will be given a calendar schedule at enrollment so you can plan accordingly. Online classes can be attended any time of day. In-person classes will have a set meeting time each month that you can easily plan for.

In-person classes are live, so attendance is important. Missing a live class may also result in points being deducted for your class grade. Online classes are prerecorded, so the schedule is more of a guide to keep you on track. However, your assignments are still due according to the schedule, so if you start late, you have less time to do your work.

We know that sometimes situations are beyond our control. Please call the office to request an extension and make a plan to get back on track. We are happy to extend grace if you communicate with us.

If you purchase a course, watch the lecture and complete the assignment with a passing grade, that course will stay on your permanent record. If you have 5 completed courses and withdraw, when you return, you will only have to complete your remaining 5 courses to finish your program. A new registration fee will be required, as they are only good for 1 school year with the expectation to finish in 1 year.

Taking Courses

There are 10 courses in each school year. Every course, no matter what program you choose, is formatted the same way. Each course consists of 1 textbook, 1 lecture, and 1 assignment. One course is to be completed each month, with your assignment ready to turn in at the following class date.

Every course will have 1 assignment, due by the following scheduled class. If you stay on schedule, you will have 3-4 weeks to complete your homework. Assignments vary from essays, multiple choice, fill in the blank, and questionnaires. Most assignments can be completed in 2-5 hours.

You will be given the opportunity to redo the assignment, however, your second attempt comes with an automatic point deduction.

Yes. 1 class per month is the standard schedule, however, you may progress to the next class after you have submitted your assignment for grading. This only applies to Online classes. The in-person classes must be taken monthly on schedule.

No. Once you reach the Bachelor level of the program, you are able to choose classes in Theology, Counseling or Chaplaincy. You can study Counseling one year and then switch to Theology the next year. You do not have to commit to one program for the entirety of your studies. Your commitment is for 10 classes at a time.

Miscellaneous

Unfortunately, we cannot. We are authorized to issue religious degrees and are not fully accredited by the board of education. Because of this we are not eligible to accept Scholarships issued by government organizations or the military.

No. The counseling degree does NOT make you a certified counselor. Its purpose is to equip those working in ministry in positions that require counseling. It prepares you to give direction from a Biblical view.

The Chaplaincy Certification is meant for those already in ministry that want to expand their offerings by volunteering as a Chaplain. The Degree program is an in-depth study program to equip those wanting to pursue full-time work as a Chaplain.

No. Many of our textbooks are published for the university only and not for sale anywhere else. Although many of our other books used can be found online, we order for the university based on enrollment. This assures you have 1 set price to budget for each month, and you don’t have to worry about remembering to make that purchase. We will automatically mail you a book after you purchase a course.

Your cap & gown is included in your graduation fee. When you complete the registration form at enrollment, your height and weight are requested. Those are used to order your gown that will be given to you before graduation.
